Therapy for Upper West Side professionals
Less second-guessing. More presence.
A walk toward Riverside Park may give you a break, but it doesn't always quiet the conversation in your head. If you're replaying work decisions, relationship tensions or everything you should have done differently, we can work on the patterns that keep you stuck.
Lana Katz, LPC, LMHC

You can care deeply without thinking about everything all the time.
Who this is for
- You revisit conversations long after they're over.
- You find it hard to be present, even when you have time off.
- The same relationship tension keeps resurfacing.
- You're ready to understand your reactions and practice different ones.
When another kind of support may fit better
If you need immediate crisis care or a higher level of support, this online practice isn't the right starting point. If you're looking for couples sessions, these pages describe individual therapy.
You don't need to arrive with a perfect goal. A consultation can help us decide whether a focused, practical approach fits what you need.
Client words · excerpt
“My thought process and self-worth dramatically shifted after meeting Lana. I didn't know what to expect from our sessions and received so much more than career guidance. Lana provided me with worksheets and conversations that helped me uncover several blocks that were holding me back both personally and professionally.”
How we work
- 01
Choose the starting point
We sort through competing pressures and choose a goal that would make daily life feel different.
- 02
Notice the recurring loop
We explore how worry, self-criticism or old expectations shape your responses at work and in relationships.
- 03
Respond with intention
You practice tools for emotional regulation, clearer communication and decisions you don't need to endlessly revisit.
Your first session
Start with what's happening now.
We talk about what brought you here, how it shows up in your day, and what you want to feel or do differently. Together, we choose a starting point and identify a practical next step. You don't need to prepare a polished account of your life.
What you can take away
- Ways to step out of repetitive thinking.
- A steadier response to difficult conversations.
- More trust in your choices and room to enjoy your life.
Most people feel a change within a few sessions. Your pace and goals are individual.

Are sessions available in person on the Upper West Side?
Not currently. Therapy is online only, with a NYC office coming soon. You can join from a private location on the Upper West Side or elsewhere in New York.
Can individual therapy help with relationship tension?
Yes. We can work on your communication, reactions and choices without the other person attending. These are individual therapy sessions, not couples therapy.
What if I feel anxious even when nothing urgent is happening?
You don't need a crisis to begin. We can look at the thoughts and habits behind that anxiety and develop practical ways to respond when it shows up.
Do you take insurance?
This is a private-pay practice. Ask about fees and out-of-network options during your consultation.
